Short Motivational Stories

The Elephant Rope As a man was passing the elephants, he suddenly stopped, confused by the fact that these huge creatures were being held by only a small rope tied to their front leg. No chains, no cages. It was obvious that the elephants could, at any time, break away from their bonds but for some reason, they did not.         He saw a trainer nearby and asked why these animals just stood there and made no attempt to get away. “Well,” trainer said, “when they are very young and much smaller we use the same size rope to tie them and, at that age, it’s enough to hold them. As they grow up, they are conditioned to believe they cannot break away. They believe the rope can still hold them, so they never try to break free.”         The man was amazed. These animals could at any time break free from their bonds but because they believed they couldn’t, they were stuck right where they were.         Like the elephants, how many of us g...

My story is my question?

 My story is my question?

Today I will tell a story and ask a question, and you all have to answer it.

Last Sunday, I saw an old man waiting for a long time outside a mall in my locality. The old man stands outside the mall from ten in the morning to noon without any work.

An easy question arises in my mind, why has the old man waited so long? Who is this old man??

With the help of people nearby, I learned that he comes here every Sunday and waits here for hours. The gentleman is about seventy years old, and has been here every Sunday, regardless of the drought, rain, or winter.

As my curiosity grew, I  inquired about the old man to find out more.

"It simply came to our notice then. He was divorced when he was twenty-five years old. But the ex-wife often comes to the mall with her new husband to shop. It is true that the gentleman has not spoken to his ex-wife, but has been waiting for many months for every Sunday to have a glimpse of her ex-wife.

We will do anything to get what we desired for the most. When we get them we also lose them easily. Is not it pity!!!! .

It is normal to lose your life in the joy of finding something. But losing one for life time and grieving the rest of our life is the most embarrassing thing.

Now the question arise in my mind that does the old man really loves his ex-wife, whom he divorced twenty-five years ago?

If he was not in love then why to wait to have a glimpse of her?????

Father,Son And a Donkey

Banwarilal is a simple soul who believes whatever he is told.  The village boys are aware of this and exploit his simplicity for a few laughs. One day, Banwarilal is on his way to the market with his son to sell their donkey. He comes across some village boys out to have fun. Seeing the father and son duo walking with the donkey, they first suggest that the son ride on the donkey and save the effort. The son is put on the donkey’s back. The boys then ridicule the boy for riding while the father walks. The father and son switch places. The father rides while the son walks. The boys then taunt the father for making the poor son walk and advise the duo to ride the donkey together. Thinking it a good idea they comply. The poor donkey collapses from exhaustion.  The boys then express their disgust at the duo for ill-treating the donkey and advice that they take the donkey to an animal doctor. The duo again follows the advice. On the way, they co...

" Why Should I Feel Bad " - A Love Story

Once, there was this guy, who was in love with a girl. She wasn’t the most beautiful and gorgeous but for him, she was everything. He used to dream about her, about spending the rest of life with her. His friends told him, “why do you dream so much about her, when you don’t even know if she loves you or not?  First tell her your feelings, and get to know if she likes you or not”. He felt that was the right way.   The girl knew from the beginning, that this guy loves her.   One day when he proposed, she rejected him.  His friends thought he would take alcohol, drugs etc and ruin his life.  To their surprise, he was not depressed. When they asked him how was it that he is not sad,  he replied, “‘why should I feel bad? I lost one who never loved me and she lost the one who really loved and cared for her.” Moral:  True Love is Hard to Get.  Love is all about giving to other person without greed of gaining anything in return, i...

Building Bridges

Once upon a time, two brothers who lived on adjoining farms fell into conflict. It was the first serious rift in 40 years of farming side by side, sharing machinery, and trading labor and goods as needed without a hitch. Then the long collaboration fell apart. It began with a small misunderstanding and it grew into a major difference, and finally, it exploded into an exchange of bitter words followed by weeks of silence. One morning there was a knock on John's door. He opened it to find a man with a carpenter's toolbox. "I'm looking for a few days work," he said. "Perhaps you would have a few small jobs here and there. Could I help you?" "Yes," said the older brother. "I do have a job for you. Look across the creek at that farm. That's my neighbor, in fact, it's my younger brother. Last week there was a meadow between us and he took his bulldozer to the river levee and now there is a creek between us. Well, he may have don...
