Short Motivational Stories

The Elephant Rope As a man was passing the elephants, he suddenly stopped, confused by the fact that these huge creatures were being held by only a small rope tied to their front leg. No chains, no cages. It was obvious that the elephants could, at any time, break away from their bonds but for some reason, they did not.         He saw a trainer nearby and asked why these animals just stood there and made no attempt to get away. “Well,” trainer said, “when they are very young and much smaller we use the same size rope to tie them and, at that age, it’s enough to hold them. As they grow up, they are conditioned to believe they cannot break away. They believe the rope can still hold them, so they never try to break free.”         The man was amazed. These animals could at any time break free from their bonds but because they believed they couldn’t, they were stuck right where they were.         Like the elephants, how many of us g...

Moral Hindi Story -

Moral Story - The Monkey And The Wedge

There was once a merchant who employed many workers to build a temple in his garden. Regularly, they would start work in the morning; and take a break for the mid-day meals, and return to resume work till evening. One day, a group of monkeys arrived at the site of the building and watched the workers leaving for their mid-day meals. One of the carpenters was sawing a huge log of wood.  Since it was only half-done; he placed a wedge in between to prevent the log from closing up. He then went off along with the other workers for his meal. When all the workers were gone, the monkeys came down from the trees and started jumping around the site, and playing with the instruments. There was one monkey, who got curious about the wedge placed between the log. He sat down on the log, and having placed himself in between the half-split log, caught hold of the wedge and started pulling at it. All of a sudden, the wedge came out. As a result, the half-split log closed in and the monkey g...

Inspirational Story - " Positive Thinking "

Positive Thinking Jerry was the kind of guy you love to hate. He was always in a good mood and always had something positive to say. When someone would ask him how he was doing, he would reply, “If I were any better, I would be twins!”         He was a unique manager because he had several waiters who had followed him around from restaurant to restaurant. The reason the waiters followed Jerry was because of his attitude. He was a natural motivator. If an employee was having a bad day, Jerry was there telling the employee how to look on the positive side of the situation.         Seeing this style really made me curious, so one day I went up to Jerry and asked him, “I don’t get it! You can’t be a positive person all of the time. How do you do it?” Jerry replied, “Each morning I wake up and say to myself, Jerry, you have two choices today. You can choose to be in a good mood or you can choose to be in a bad mood.’ I choose to be in a good mood...

My story is my question?

My story is my question? Today I will tell a story and ask a question, and you all have to answer it. Last Sunday, I saw an old man waiting for a long time outside a mall in my locality. The old man stands outside the mall from ten in the morning to noon without any work.  An easy question arises in my mind, why has the old man waited so long? Who is this old man??  With the help of people nearby, I learned that he comes here every Sunday and waits here for hours. The gentleman is about seventy years old, and has been here every Sunday, regardless of the drought, rain, or winter. As my curiosity grew, I  inquired about the old man to find out more. "It simply came to our notice then. He was divorced when he was twenty-five years old. But the ex-wife often comes to the mall with her new husband to shop. It is true that the gentleman has not spoken to his ex-wife, but has been waiting for many months for every Sunday to have a glimpse of her ex-wife.  We will do ...

FAMILY

FAMILY  After 21 years of marriage, my wife wanted me to take another woman out to dinner and a movie. She said, “I love you, but I know this other woman loves you and would love to spend some time with you.”         The other woman that my wife wanted me to visit was my MOTHER, who has been a widow for 19 years, but the demands of my work and my three children had made it possible to visit her only occasionally. That night I called to invite her to go out for dinner and a movie. “What’s wrong, are you well?” she asked.         My mother is the type of woman who suspects that a late-night call or a surprise invitation is a sign of bad news. “I thought that it would be pleasant to spend some time with you,” I responded. “Just the two of us.” She thought about it for a moment, and then said, “I would like that very much.”         That Friday after work, as I drove over to pick her up I was a bit nervous. When I arrived at he...

A Loyal Dog

A shepherd, in one of his trips to look after his flock, took with him one of his children, a boy three years old. After crossing his pastures for some time, followed by his dog, he found it necessary to ascend a hill at some distance, to obtain a better view of his range.  As the climb was too much for the little child, he left him on a small plain at the bottom, telling him not to stir from it until his return. Scarcely had he gained the top of the hill, however, when the sky was darkened by a thick mist.  The anxious father at once hurried back to find his child; but owing to the unusual darkness, he missed his way. After a fruitless search of many hours, he discovered that he had reached the bottom of the valley, and was near his own cottage. To renew the search that night was both vain and most dangerous; he was, therefore, compelled to go home,    The next morning, by break of day, the shepherd, with many of his neighbors, set out to look for the child; but aft...

The story of a blind girl

There was a blind girl who hated herself just because she was blind. She hated everyone, except her loving boyfriend. He was always there for her. She said that if she could only see the world, she would marry her boyfriend.         One day, someone donated a pair of eyes to her and then she could see everything, including her boyfriend. Her boyfriend asked her, “Now that you can see the world, will you marry me?”         The girl was shocked when she saw that her boyfriend was blind too, and refused to marry him. Her boyfriend walked away in tears, and later wrote a letter to her saying:         “Just take care of my eyes dear.”         This is how human brain changes when the status changed. Only few remember what life was before, and who’s always been there even in the most painful situations.         Life Is A Gift         Today before you think of s...
